Blue Christmas Paperback Available at The Ripped Bodice

Hooray! Even though Small Business Saturday is officially over*, it’s always time to support indie booksellers!

<twirls> I’m happy to announce BLUE CHRISTMAS (Mistletoe Key, Book 2) is available on The Ripped Bodice’s digital shelves! </twirls>

The perfect Secret Santa gift! (Pair it with a fancy mug, some green tea, and some cookies and you’ve got the perfect themed gift too!)

*I have a good excuse for missing it: I had The Plague on the official date of small business Saturday...thanks to the entire Haughton clan being carriers at Thanksgiving. You didn’t want to be near me—even online. ;)

Mistletoe Key Hurricane Relief Effort

Earlier this year, the idea of Mistletoe Key was born.

It was a place that could only bloom from the minds of writers who start brainstorming… an island where Christmas is celebrated 365 days a year. A tropical paradise where mermaids sing carols, stray parrots are named Mele and Kalikimaka, and Santa wears a Hawaiian shirt and flip flops.

Of course we placed this fantasy isle in the Florida Keys, where else? It’s a place that is as American as key lime pie and Jimmy Buffet. A place where writers and fishermen and drag queens come together to eat Cuban rice and beans and deep fried seafood.

We wanted to honor the Keys with our creation, but now, after that b*tch Hurricane Irma paid a visit, we’re faced with a conundrum. Because Irma has screwed up real lives, livelihoods, roads, bridges and dreams. And yeah, we’ll say it, She’s screwed up our release plans.

We can’t release our fun, romantic holiday novellas about this golden land of make-believe in the middle of the Keys without acknowledging the awful reality of Irma and the destruction she brought to this tiny string of islands.

So what are authors supposed to do?

We could delay the release. (But honestly, Christmas novellas released in April or June don’t bring quite as much joy to the hearts of readers.) We could go along with our plans, release Resisting Santa and Blue Christmas in November and go our merry way. No one would judge. But our hearts would hurt. It wouldn’t feel right.

In the end, it wasn’t really a debate or discussion. We agreed, instantaneously, that we would release our books as planned and donate 100% of Resisting Santa and Blue Christmas pre-orders and sales through the month of November to hurricane relief efforts.

It’s not much, but it’s what the spirit of our books, of the holidays, and of the Florida Keys demands.

So donate money yourself, or buy our books. However you want to help those impacted by Irma (and Harvey and Maria), please help—the need is great.

And we promise to raise a glass and sing Margaritaville together when the Keys are rebuilt.

The 2017 Mistletoe Key Authors,

Lindsay Emory and Alexandra Haughton

Welcome to Mistletoe Key

Welcome to Mistletoe Key--where it's perpetually Christmas and kissing Santa is encouraged! (AKA welcome to the world I've been living in this week as I tackle the BOOK IN A WEEK (BIAW) challenge set forth by Lindsay Emory.)

Mistletoe Key Postcard

It's official. I bow to the master.

Lindsay is ON FIRE with her writing. And I'm on fire too. Mine's just more of a slow burn. My BOOK IN A WEEK is turning out to be more like BOOK IN TWO WEEKS...MAYBE TWO AND A HALF. I'm more than okay with that because I'm loving loving loving this project.

If you're following Lindsay on Facebook, you'll be able to watch all of her FB Lives (even if they aren't live by the time you watch them) about her progress. AND she's posting hot, hot, hot, sweet/funny/sexy snippets from her progress. (Another way she totally wins. I might be LOVING this book I'm writing, but I'm not sharing snippets.)

Presents. Because that's the Haughton way. What presents, you ask? When I'm finished with the first draft (next week, hallelujah hands, pretty please), I'll draw one winner for a $20 gift card to Amazon or iBooks* so you can fill up your eReader with lots of good stuff.

All you have to do to enter is let me know (below) you want to be in the running. (And eagle-eyed readers will see there's a spot to request an ARC of my Christmas story!)

If I win, please send me a GC to:
I'm interested in being part of Lexi's advanced reading team:

**US/UK/CAN/Australia residents only this time. Void where prohibited. Winner must have valid email address where I can send the electronic gift card/code.
