Five for Friday: I’m on a Bus Edition

I’m on a bus! Not as glam as being on a boat, I know. But it’s still pretty rad. (Especially if you factor in these first-class style seats and no naked-scanners at the airport.)

I’m on my way back to Dallas from a quick trip to Houston to welcome Texas’ newest resident, Miz Shari Slade. She’s got a new apartment (we are hilariously calling “The Lady Pad”) and a new job. I’m so excited for this newest chapter in her life.

So here’s to Friday and all of the beautiful things about it!

1.    Vonlane, the bus company, is awesome. If you’re in Dallas, Houston, or Austin and need to make a little jaunt to Houston, Austin, or Dallas, I highly recommend it. (You can pretend you’re on some kind of glamorous international railway instead of a tricked out Greyhound.) I’m getting no kickback from this...just happy to travel in style and comfort without the stress of the airport.
2.    Shout out to some awesome foodie scenes in H-town. Between unpacking cars full of boxes and belongings, shelf-papering, and transforming the sweet Lady Pad from bare to beautiful, Shari and I got out for some great grub. Coco Crepes and The Blacksmith are on my list for all return trips.
3.    This weekend is the annual Buns and Roses Tea benefiting the Richardson Adult Literacy Center. I love the event because it celebrates Romancelandia and is a great fundraiser for the RALC who does such important work in our community. I’m delighted to sponsor this event and always excited to dress up and have tea with fellow bibliophiles. OH! And if you have new settlement credit at B&N, use code #12168456 until the 27th and you’ll support RALC with your purchase.
4.    And speaking of B&N purchases, now would be an awesome time to celebrate Laura von Holt’s debut erotic romance KING OF THE SEA (published under Madame de Boudior pseudonym). If you were always more into King Triton than Prince Eric, you’re going to want to grab this story. Plus, it’s dedicated TO ME.
5.    I’ve gotten so many sweet tweets and emails about my Destination, Love series. You guys are making my heart so full. Remember THIS CHRISTMAS is absolutely free. (I know, I know, it’s October, but I’m about to start binge-reading all holiday romance all the time, so I figure you might want to, too.)

Five for Friday: Feelin' the Fall Edition

I'm feeling all things fall today--even though it was 100 degrees again in Dallas yesterday (yuck!) after a week of lovely, temperate weather. And though I took August off from official #FiveForFRI posts, I was definitely busy enjoying the small, everyday beauty of life and loved ones.

And speaking of, my list today is full of love...

  1. I've been taking romance novels, games, coloring books, and puzzles to the Dallas Public Library. (They've been coordinating drop-offs for the mega shelter housing Harvey evacuees.) Our community so amazing, and I thank every single person who sent books or money for wishlist items for me to drop off. Romance offers love and hope, even in the darkest of times. And, as always, I'm so grateful to be a small part of Romancelandia.
  2. I'm relaunching my stories from the One Week in Love anthologies as standalones in the Destination, Love series, and Julia Kelly/Blake and Alexis Anne are, too. It's been a love fest on Slack and email as we send new covers and excerpts back and forth, remembering how much fun we had writing these together several years ago.
  3. Y'all, my sweet Dallas friends and I just nailed down the date for our annual Friendsgiving celebration. We've been friends for about a decade now (though it seems inconceivable!) and we always try to get together during the holiday season--no boyfriends (though all are now husbands)--for an evening of merriment. It's possible I did a happy dance in Starbucks when the last RSVP came in.
  4. And Lindsay Emory and I were able to get together again today for a Ladies Who Lunch--which we should really re-name because it's more of a power-lunch/hashing out plans for glorious world domination than ladies of leisure getting together to gossip.
  5. Today included ART! I'm a proud member of the Dallas Museum of Art, and I was able to get advance tickets to the new Yayoi Kusama exhibition. It's more of an experience than art exhibition, and if you live in the Dallas area, I highly recommend seeing it!

There's nobody I'd rather be locked in a dark, mirrored room with for forty-five seconds than you, Lindsay. Unless Chris Evans is available. In that case, you're on your own, Linz.

Five for Friday: Extreme Makeover Edition

Does this website make me look fat? (Don't care if it does; it's pretty fabulous.)

Last night as I was admiring my new calling cards (see below), it occurred to me that my dot-com needed a major makeover. #roseallday

And the rest is history.

Five outrageously beautiful things for my Friday:

  1. Even though I'm sad there isn't PINK EVERYWHERE on my updated site (and I still want to handpaint an original background that I can be obsessed with), I'm loving the rose gold. And my brain for making it happen in a super-short time because Momma has things to do!
  2. Speaking of mommas, and mine in particular, it's my mother's BIRTHDAYWEEK™️, so we've been enjoying cupcakes and other celebratory shenanigans.
  3. This time next week I'll be in Orlando with my people!
  4. ...And handing out my sparkly calling cards and assorted HBIC Nation swag!!!
  5. Sonic Happy Hour Lemonades that last allllll afternoon when you make your own Arnold Palmers (in the fancy stemmed glasses).

(And don't forget to check out my HOME page scroll--lots of good stuff there!)
